Job summary

Michael Page is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant for a fast-growth SaaS business based in Ulverston. The role covers day-to-day financial control, month-end close, and consolidated reporting for a multi-entity group with international considerations.

You will work closely with operational leaders, support VAT and tax filings, and provide commercial insight to drive better decision-making. On-site with some flexibility.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualifications (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) or equivalent.
• Excellent knowledge of financial reporting standards and tax regulations.
• Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel.
• Prior audit background is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and methodical problem-solving.
• Good communication to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day financial control across group entities including bank, ledger, reconciliations, intercompany, accruals and prepayments.
• Drive a robust monthly close with clear management accounts and commentary at department, entity and consolidated level.
• Prepare consolidated cash flow forecasts and support active cash management for interest optimisation.
• Prepare monthly management accounts with KPI and variance analysis for leadership.

This is a hands-on financial control role at a pivotal moment for the business. My client are preparing for their first statutory audit under a new group structure, and that brings additional reporting, control and disclosure requirements that need experienced hands behind them.

Client Details

A fast-growth SaaS business based in Ulverston, Lake District. Fantastic growth plans and financially very strong.

Role will be predominantly site-based with some flexibility - ability to get to the offices is essential.

Description

• Own day-to-day financial control across the group entities, including bank, ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany, accruals and prepayments.
• Drive a robust monthly close, with clear management accounts and commentary at department, entity, and consolidated level.
• Prepare consolidated cash flow forecasts and support active cash management to optimise interest earned across the group.
• Prepare monthly management accounts for the leadership team, including KPI and variance analysis.
• Perform detailed review of transactions at the department and general ledger level, identifying variances from the budget and prior actuals.
• Support UK and international VAT returns, payroll filings, corporation tax workings and statutory reporting at entity and group level.
• Partner with non-finance teams as a trusted source of commercial insight, helping operational leaders read their numbers and make better-informed decisions.

A Successful Senior Accountant Should Have

• Professional qualifications such as ACCA, ACA, or CIMA.
• Excellent knowledge of financial reporting standards and tax regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
• Ideally a background in audit.
• Attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
