Gallagher is hiring an Account Handler to manage day-to-day insurance requirements for a portfolio of medium-sized direct clients in Chichester. You will work with Client Directors, insurers and colleagues across Gallagher’s Real Estate team to provide a proactive, accurate and responsive service.

The role requires proven experience in commercial insurance, renewals, and mid-term adjustments, along with strong organisational and communication skills.

Overview

Are you an experienced Real Estate insurance professional looking to take ownership of a varied portfolio of medium-sized direct clients? If so, this position could be for you.

We are looking to recruit a confident, motivated and experienced Account Handler to join our Chichester-based team. You will manage the day-to-day insurance requirements of a portfolio of medium-sized direct clients, delivering a responsive and professional service while working closely with Client Directors, insurers and colleagues across Gallagher’s highly successful Real Estate team.

The successful candidate will have proven experience handling medium-sized direct commercial clients and will be comfortable managing renewals, mid-term adjustments, insurer negotiations and client queries with a high level of accuracy and ownership.

How you'll make an impact

Renewal Processing

• Manage the renewal process for a portfolio of medium-sized direct clients from initial review through to completion.
• Liaise with insurers to obtain and negotiate renewal terms, identify suitable alternative quotations where required and ensure recommendations meet each client’s needs.
• Prepare accurate renewal documentation and present recommendations clearly to clients, working with the Client Director where appropriate.
• Ensure cover is bound by the renewal or effective date in all instances.
• Check and release policy documentation promptly, following up with insurers where necessary.

Mid Term Adjustments

• Take full responsibility for mid-term adjustments, understanding clients’ requirements, negotiating with insurers and producing accurate documentation and invoices within agreed service timescales.

For all processes

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a reliable point of contact for day-to-day insurance requirements and queries.
• Ensure all client information, emails and telephone notes are recorded accurately and promptly on the relevant systems.
• Resolve insurer queries relating to client policies and coverage, escalating complex matters when appropriate.
• Manage account queries and credit control matters efficiently, raising concerns promptly and supporting the collection of outstanding balances.
• Maintain high standards of compliance, accuracy and client service across all activities.
• Plan and prioritise your own workload to meet client deadlines, working collaboratively with Client Directors and the wider team.

About you

• Proven experience in a commercial insurance Account Handler or similar client-servicing role.
• Proven experience managing the insurance needs of medium-sized direct clients, including renewals and mid-term adjustments.
• Good knowledge of Real Estate insurance products, policy coverage and insurer processes; real estate experience would be advantageous.
• Confident client relationship and insurer negotiation skills, with the ability to explain terms and recommendations clearly.
• Highly accurate, with strong attention to detail and the judgement to take ownership of issues through to resolution.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing client deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; previous Acturis experience is desirable.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
• Eligible to work in the UK.
