Job summary

Gallagher is recruiting a Senior Account Handler for our Real Estate team in Chichester. You will manage an existing portfolio, support Account Executives with complex cases, and act as a technical referral point for colleagues and stakeholders.

You will handle renewals, deliver excellent client service, and mentor junior team members, leveraging strong insurance knowledge and Acturis proficiency to serve leading UK clients.

• Senior Account Handler experience or readiness for senior/technical role.
• Strong insurance knowledge and ability to manage complex risks.
• Experience delivering against targets and SLAs.

Responsibilities

• Manage and service an existing Real Estate portfolio, including renewals and policy maintenance.
• Serve as technical point of reference for clients, insurers and colleagues.
• Lead renewal activity and remarket risks where appropriate.
• Collaborate with Account Executives to manage client relationships and renewal strategies.
• Mentor junior colleagues and support training of the team.

Overview

We are looking to recruit a Senior Account Handler to join our growing Real Estate team based in our Chichester office.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Account Handler looking to take the next step in their career, or an established Senior Account Handler seeking to specialise within the Real Estate sector. You will be responsible for managing an existing portfolio of clients, supporting Account Executives with complex cases, and acting as a technical referral point for both colleagues and key stakeholders.

Working with some of our largest clients in the UK, you will play a key role in managing renewals, handling complex insurance queries, supporting service delivery, and mentoring junior members of the team.

How you'll make an impact

• Portfolio Management: Manage and service an existing portfolio of Real Estate clients, taking ownership of renewals, policy maintenance, account development opportunities, and ongoing client servicing throughout the year. You'll develop a strong understanding of your portfolio, including premium income, risk exposures, and client requirements.
• Technical Expertise & Complex Queries: Act as a technical referral point for clients, insurers, MGAs, and colleagues, handling complex queries across a range of property risks. This may include areas such as contract works, engineering inspections, first-tier tribunal risks, and other specialist Real Estate exposures.
• Renewals & Market Engagement: Lead renewal activity across your portfolio, working closely with insurers, MGAs, Account Executives, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery. You'll identify opportunities to remarket risks where appropriate and negotiate the best outcomes for clients.
• Account Executive Partnership: Partner with Account Executives to manage client relationships, prepare renewal strategies, resolve complex issues, and deliver a high standard of service across the portfolio.
• Coaching & Team Support: Support the development of junior team members by sharing technical knowledge, providing guidance on complex cases, and assisting with training and onboarding activities. You'll also support Team Leaders in maintaining service standards and achieving agreed SLAs.
• Client and Insurer Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers, and key stakeholders, ensuring prompt resolution of queries and delivery of exceptional customer service.

About you

• Significant commercial insurance experience, ideally within Property, Real Estate, or corporate insurance environments.
• Previous experience as a Senior Account Handler, or a strong Account Handler ready to step into a more senior and technical role.
• Strong technical insurance knowledge with the ability to confidently manage complex risks, policy wordings, and client requirements.
• Experience working to targets and SLAs within a regulated environment.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage with clients, insurers, MGAs, and internal stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to mentoring and supporting less experienced colleagues.
• Fully proficient in Acturis.
• Holding or working towards Cert CII, Dip CII, or equivalent insurance qualifications is desirable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Eligible to work in the UK.
