Job summary

Surrey Police Service is seeking a highly organised Access Control Coordinator for a fixed-term/secondment to cover maternity leave. The role oversees physical and digital access control for staff, contractors, and visitors from the Police Headquarters, with standard hours 08:00–16:00, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities include processing access requests, issuing ID cards, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with data protection legislation.

Qualifications

• Proven administrative experience with strong organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement across multiple channels.
• High attention to detail with experience maintaining confidential records.
• Ability to audit records, interpret system reports, and exercise sound judgement in access decisions.

Responsibilities

• Manage physical and digital access control systems, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely processing of requests in line with service level agreements.
• Grant, amend, and revoke access permissions in accordance with role requirements, security policies, and clearance levels.
• Coordinate the production, distribution, and deactivation of ID and access cards, maintaining up-to-date records and photo databases.
• Verify vetting and security clearances and conduct regular audits of access permissions and system records.
• Investigate and report access-related incidents or anomalies, ensuring compliance with data protection and regulatory requirements.
• Act as the main point of contact for access control queries, working closely with HR, IT, Estates & Facilities, and Security teams.
