Job summary

JDP Hereford is looking for a hands-on Driver/Yard Operative to join our team. This role combines customer deliveries with warehouse and yard responsibilities, offering variety and teamwork in a busy branch. You will drive a 3.5T pick-up, manage deliveries across Hereford and surrounding areas, perform vehicle checks, and support stock control.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements
• Knowledge of driver regulations and safe driving practices
• Ability to plan routes and manage deliveries effectively
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• A positive, hardworking attitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to work as part of a small, supportive team
• Previous experience in a warehouse, yard, builders' merchant, or distribution environment

Responsibilities

• Driving & Deliveries: Safely operate a company 3.5T pick-up vehicle; Deliver products accurately and on time to customers across Hereford and the surrounding areas; Plan and follow efficient daily delivery routes; Complete vehicle checks and maintain high standards of road safety; Provide excellent customer service at every delivery point; Follow all relevant driving legislation and company procedures
• Yard & Warehouse Operations: Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders; Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently; Support stock management and stock checks; Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment; Work closely with colleagues to ensure the branch runs smoothly each day; Assist customers and support the wider team whenever needed
