Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Bristol BS4 is seeking two experienced SEN Learning Support Assistants for long-term roles starting September 2026. This full-time position offers 1:1 and small group support across various year groups, helping children with SEN including autism, ADHD and SEMH.

You will work with teachers and the SENCO to deliver targeted interventions and foster inclusive, supportive learning. The role emphasizes a patient, nurturing approach, strong teamwork, and adaptability to match

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with SEN in a school or education setting.
  • Understanding of autism, ADHD, SEMH or other additional needs.
  • Patient, nurturing and child-centred approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Enthusiasm, adaptability and a genuine passion for pupil progress.
  • Experience with personal care is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN.
  • Support children with autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH and other needs.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to aid learning and development.
  • Assist with phonics, reading, literacy and numeracy activities.
  • Support pupils with EHCP targets alongside the SENCO.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive behaviours.
  • Use strategies for emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Contribute to a calm, inclusive classroom environment.

Hours: Full time, 5 days per week

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with special educational needs? We are working with a welcoming primary school in BS4 who are seeking 2 enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistants for long term roles starting in September.

The school is recruiting across different year groups, so whether you love Early Years, KS1 or KS2, we can match you to the age group that suits you best!

You will be providing dedicated support to pupils with SEN across the school, working closely with class teachers, SENCOs and the wider staff team to help children achieve their full potential. The school has a supportive leadership team, a strong focus on inclusion and a friendly, nurturing environment where every child is valued.

The Role:
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN
