Job summary

CRG | TEC Recruitment is seeking an experienced 2nd Line IT Engineer for an MSP in the West Lancs area. You’ll manage escalated tickets, troubleshoot complex issues, and mentor junior engineers within a busy service desk.

You’ll work across Windows desktops/servers, Active Directory, Azure AD, networking (DNS/DHCP), and virtualization (Hyper-V, VMware), with proactive maintenance, backups checks and occasional project work, plus occasional on-site visits.

Qualifications

• Experience in an MSP or IT support environment.
• 2nd Line Engineer/Service Desk experience or ready for the next step.
• Solid grounding in Windows OS, Active Directory, and Microsoft cloud environments.
• Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN/WAN, firewall troubleshooting.
• Exposure to virtualization, backups and IT security.
• Experience using ticketing systems and remote monitoring tools.
• Comfortable speaking directly with customers and documenting tickets.
• Hold a full UK driving licence for occasional site visits.

Responsibilities

• Handle escalated 2nd line IT tickets and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Provide proactive maintenance and contribute to infrastructure improvements.
• Assist with installations and occasional project work.
• Support across Windows desktops/servers, AD, Azure AD, networking and virtualization.
• Visit customer sites as needed and communicate clearly with clients.
