Barnsley Hospital is seeking a Ward Clerk to join Ward 36, a busy surgical ward providing patient-centred care. You will act as a first point of contact for patients, relatives and staff, handling administrative tasks and maintaining ward records with accuracy.
Working Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:00, you will support admissions, transfers and discharges, prioritise workload and contribute to a welcoming environment for patients and visitors while working within a multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will provide administrative and clerical support to Ward 36, helping to ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the ward.
They will act as a first point of contact for patients, relatives, visitors and other departments, both face-to-face and over the telephone, ensuring a professional, friendly and helpful approach at all times.
Duties will include maintaining accurate patient records and ward documentation, supporting admission, transfer and discharge processes, arranging and organising patient notes, answering and directing telephone calls, and liaising with members of the multidisciplinary team and other departments across the Trust.
The Ward Clerk will work closely with the nursing team, including the Lead Nurse and Ward Sisters, and will be expected to prioritise their workload effectively within a busy and sometimes changing ward environment.
The successful candidate will also provide general administrative support to the ward and contribute to maintaining an organised and welcoming environment for our patients, relatives and staff.
