Job summary

Barnsley Hospital NHS FT is seeking an experienced Orthopaedic Nurse to join Ward 33. You will provide specialised care for musculoskeletal patients, coordinate care and lead junior staff while maintaining clinical standards and patient safety.

This Band 6 role requires UK registration, a diploma level education and post-qualification development. The successful candidate will work alongside surgeons, orthogeriatricians and physiotherapists in a supportive NHS environment.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse with UK registration.
• Educated to diploma level or working towards.
• 1st level registered nurse and current UK registration are essential.
• Experience with orthopaedic care and post-operative nursing preferred.

Job summary

Ward 33 are seeking a skilled and compassionate Orthopaedic Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will provide specialised care to patients with musculoskeletal conditions, including fractures, joint replacements, and spinal injuries. You will work closely with Orthopaedic Surgeons, Orthogeriatric Consultants, Physiotherapists and Advanced Clinical Practitioners. We work in-line with the Best Practice Tariff for our fractured neck of femur patients to ensure optimal outcomes for our patients.

Communication will be a vital part of your role to ensure safe and holistic care. We take direct admissions from the Emergency Department and also repatriations from other hospitals. The successful candidate will be expected to model and uphold the Trust values and behaviours, providing a positive culture and environment for their colleagues and patients.

Main duties of the job

The Sister/Charge Nurse role will ensure that there is safe and effective management of the clinical area and contribute to the professional development of junior staff. The role includes responsibility for coordinating care, maintaining clinical standards and promoting patient safety and service improvement. You will act as the senior Nurse for the ward/department and will, participate in bed management and patient flow as required.
