Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Network Operator to join the System Operations team. Based at Kemble Court, Reading, you will monitor the water supply network, identify risks, and coordinate responses to ensure uninterrupted service across the supply chain.

You will use data and technology to maintain water quality, support emergency work, and enable essential maintenance and major projects. The role follows a 6‑week rolling shift with 12‑hour day and night shifts, including weekends, and annual leave

Qualifications

• Experience in water networks or regulation is beneficial but not required.
• Good numerical and communication skills are essential.
• IT literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook) and adaptability to new digital tools.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to perform under pressure.
• Teamwork and collaboration skills are important.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage the water supply system to identify risks and implement timely solutions.
• Use data and technology to detect issues and prevent impact on customers.
• Ensure water quality standards are consistently met to protect public health.
• Provide technical guidance during emergency work to maintain service continuity.
• Prioritise risks from emails, calls, and control room systems and escalate high-consequence issues.
