Job summary

Amazon Data Services UK Limited in Hemel Hempstead, England, seeks a Critical Facilities Technician (Shift) to operate and maintain electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure. You will perform hands-on maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting to ensure power and cooling systems run safely and reliably.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent diploma is required.
• Experience with electrical or mechanical infrastructure in data centers or similar.
• Experience implementing and enforcing safety standards in warehouse/maintenance environments.
• Hands-on maintenance, inspections or troubleshooting on plant equipment.
• Willingness to work in a shift-based environment supporting 24/7 operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems.
• Conduct routine plant inspections and equipment checks to ensure systems operate correctly.
• Monitor alarms and system performance using Building Management Systems (BMS) and other monitoring tools.
• Assist with fault finding and troubleshooting across infrastructure systems including power distribution and cooling equipment.
• Support operation and testing of critical systems including diesel generators, UPS, switchgear and cooling equipment.
• Supervise vendors performing maintenance or repair activities on site.
• Follow permit-to-work and safety procedures for all maintenance and operational activities.
• Participate in incident response and support troubleshooting during infrastructure events.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and operational logs.
• Support testing activities including generator tests and infrastructure failover exercises.
