The Role

Are you an experienced pharmacist with a passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people? NHS Lanarkshire is seeking two Prescribing Clinical Pharmacists to join our dynamic Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) & Neurodevelopmental Services (NDS) team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of a specialised clinical pharmacy service in a forward-thinking and rapidly evolving environment.

About the Role:
NHS Lanarkshire CAMHS & NDS have undergone significant service redesign over the past few years, including the introduction of advanced clinical pharmacists. This exciting new role will support and further develop the pharmacy service by playing a fundamental role in providing safe, effective, and patient-centred pharmaceutical care to children and young people up to the age of 18.
Your work will span across diverse clinical areas, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), anxiety, and depression. You will lead pharmacist prescribing clinics, monitor patient treatments, and work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
There are two fulltime posts (37 hours) available; one within CAMHS North Locality Teams (based at Coathill Hospital, Coatbridge and Airbles Road Centre, Motherwell) or CAMHS South Locality Teams (based at Udston Hospital, Hamilton). In time, there will also be an expectation to provide support to NDS across Lanarkshire, depending on service needs. A driving license and the willingness to travel are essential.
There is currently no requirement to participate in on-call or weekend working for these roles, however this may be subject to change as the service develops.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provision of Outpatient Clinics: Prescribing, monitoring, and review of medications for young people with a range of mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Working closely with the existing advanced clinical pharmacist team, alongside the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated, patient-centred care.
• Clinical Leadership & Development: Support the ongoing development of the pharmacy service, contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement, audit, research, and service evaluation.
• Education and Training: Provide experiential learning opportunities for pharmacy students, as well as training for pharmacy and multidisciplinary staff to support the future of clinical pharmacy in CAMHS & NDS.
