Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD is recruiting an experienced Teaching Assistant to support a secondary pupil in an Alternative Provision in Blackpool. This full-time, 2:1 placement starts in November, delivering tailored academic and behavioural support to help the pupil re-engage with education in a calm, structured setting.

You will work with another staff member delivering academic and behavioural support, focusing on engagement, wellbeing, and progression within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting young people with SEMH or behavioural needs.
• Background in SEN, Learning Mentor, Youth Worker, or related roles.
• Calm, patient, and proactive with strong emotional intelligence.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively as part of a 2:1 support team to ensure a safe, focused, and positive learning environment.
• Support the pupil across core learning sessions, practical activities, and vocational tasks.
• De-escalate challenging behaviours using positive reinforcement and proven techniques.
• Foster positive relationships and build rapport to boost emotional resilience and engagement.
• Maintain clear communication with teachers, SENDCos, and pastoral leadership.
