Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, or Youth Support Worker to support a secondary pupil in a reputable Alternative Provision in Blackpool.

This full-time placement starts in November and offers a stable, ongoing role.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with SEMH or complex behavioural needs.
• Background in SEN settings, PRU, or similar alternative provision.
• De-escalation training is advantageous but not required.

About the Role

About the RoleAre you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, or Youth Support Worker looking for a purposeful, rewarding role where you can make a lasting difference?We are currently recruiting a resilient and proactive Teaching Assistant to work on a 2:1 basis supporting a secondary-aged pupil within a reputable Alternative Provision (AP) in Blackpool. This is a full-time, ongoing placement starting in November.

Key Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively as part of a 2:1 support team to ensure a safe, focused, and positive learning environment.
• Support the pupil across core learning sessions, practical activities, and vocational tasks.
• De-escalate challenging behaviours using positive reinforcement, empathy, and proven de-escalation techniques.
• Foster positive relationships and build rapport to help boost the student's emotional resilience and engagement.
• Maintain clear communication with class teachers, SENDCos, and pastoral leadership.

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience supporting young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health), complex behavioural needs, or within a PRU / Alternative Provision / specialist school.
• Relevant backgrounds include: SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, Youth Worker, Residential Support Worker, or Ex-Military/Sports Coach.
• Training in de-escalation (e.g., Team-Teach, Price, or MAPA) is highly advantageous, though not essential.
• A calm, patient, and non-judgemental approach with strong boundaries and high emotional intelligence.
• Reliable, adaptable, and a dedicated team player who thrives in challenging, dynamic environments.
