Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a male student in a secondary setting in Blackpool. This full-time, term-time role focuses on academic and social development, with mentoring and consistent, calm guidance throughout the school day.

You will work closely with SENCo and pastoral staff, applying de-escalation strategies and tailoring tasks to the student’s pace. DBS Update Service or willingness to apply is required.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working 1:1 with young people in secondary settings or similar contexts.
• DBS check required or willingness to apply for Update Service.
• De-escalation training is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver dedicated 1:1 support across the school day, inside the classroom and during interventions.
• Mentor and role model to build self-esteem, focus, and social engagement.
• Apply de-escalation strategies and restorative approaches.
• Tailor resources to match learning pace and interests.
• Maintain feedback loops with teachers, SENCo, and pastoral team.
