The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, term-time only, with pay ranging £95-£100 per day depending on experience. Start date is ASAP, with a dedicated classroom and supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Have previous experience supporting children with SEMH needs.
• Experience supporting a pupil on a 1:1 basis.
• Ability to assist with emotional regulation and classroom engagement.
• Experience in a mainstream primary school is preferable.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary pupil with SEMH needs within a mainstream classroom.
• Support the pupil with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement throughout the day.
• Build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil.
• Help the pupil access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities.
• Collaborate with the class teacher and school team to maintain consistent support.

Academics is delighted to be working in partnership with a friendly and supportive mainstream primary school in Westminster, who are looking to appoint a dedicated and experienced 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a pupil within their school.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and can provide consistent, nurturing 1:1 support throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a primary-aged pupil with SEMH needs within a mainstream classroom.
• Support the pupil with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.

• Help the pupil access the curriculum and participate effectively in classroom activities.
• Work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to provide consistent support.
• Help create a calm, safe and positive learning environment for the pupil.

• Ideally have experience working within a mainstream primary school.
• Be confident supporting children with challenging behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Have a calm, patient, nurturing and resilient approach.
• Have a genuine passion for supporting children and helping them reach their potential.
