Job summary

The Catch-Up Academy is seeking In-Person Tutors to support children and young people who cannot attend school due to SEN, SEMH, or mental health challenges. You’ll provide 1:1 tutoring during term-time hours, often at students’ homes or in community settings.

You’ll use personalised teaching methods to help rebuild confidence and engagement with learning, while tracking progress and communicating with families and schools. Flexible, meaningful part-time or term-time work awaits.

Qualifications

• Experience tutoring or teaching children, especially with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with challenging learners.
• Autonomy and ability to manage a flexible timetable.
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) and safeguarding knowledge are essential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 tuition sessions during school hours (typically 9:00–15:00, Mon–Fri).
• Work with students who are out of school, often at home or in community settings.
• Support learners across core subjects (English, Maths, Science) with personalised teaching methods.
• Focus on rebuilding trust and engagement with learning, not just academics.
• Communicate with parents/carers, schools, and support professionals to track progress.
• Log student outcomes and feedback to support each learner’s journey.
