Job summary

Lift Utter is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in our Utterby school, helping create a calm, inclusive learning environment.

You will provide focused one-to-one support, assist language development through play and activities, and feed progress back to the class teacher, while upholding kindness and dignity.

Level 3 TA qualification is advantageous but not essential; UK right to work is required. This role sits within Lift Schools, a rural, community-focused trust.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a school setting.
• Familiarity with phonics programmes such as Read Write Inc.
• Understanding of child development and how children learn.
• Flexible, proactive approach and a genuine passion for primary education.
• UK right to work, as this role does not sponsor.
• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support a child on a one-to-one basis or with small groups during focused activities.
• Encourage language development through play, songs and conversation.
• Observe and record progress, feeding updates back to the class teacher.
• Support personal care needs with kindness and dignity.
• Help create stimulating, well-organised learning spaces.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with children, families and staff.
• Promote good behaviour, emotional wellbeing and a sense of belonging.
