Job summary

Remedy Education are seeking an experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant / Support Worker to support a Year 11 student with SEMH and additional learning needs within an alternative provision setting.

The role requires a calm, confident adult who can build trust, maintain clear boundaries and support both learning and emotional regulation, with a focus on promoting independence and resilience.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour and use de-escalation strategies.
• Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries.
• Experience in alternative provision, PRU, SEMH or specialist settings is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 Teaching Assistant support to a Year 11 student with SEMH and additional learning needs.
• Support learning engagement and emotional regulation, helping the student stay focused.
• Encourage independence and resilience while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
• Assist in managing frustration and conflicts to support a calm, supportive learning environment.

1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant - Year 11

Location: Alternative Provision
Pay: 117- 130 per day
Full-Time Long-Term

Remedy Education are looking for an experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant / Support Worker to support a Year 11 student with SEMH and additional learning needs within an alternative provision.

The student requires a calm, consistent and confident adult who can build trust, maintain clear boundaries and support both his learning and emotional regulation.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience supporting secondary-aged pupils with SEMH
• Be confident managing challenging behaviour and using de-escalation strategies
• Build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
• Support focus, understanding and engagement with learning
• Help the student manage frustration, conflict and emotional regulation
• Encourage independence rather than creating reliance on 1:1 support

Experience within alternative provision, PRU, SEMH or specialist settings would be highly beneficial.

This role would suit an experienced SEMH TA, Behaviour Mentor, Learning Mentor or Youth Worker.
