Job summary

Remedy Education are recruiting for a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Mentor to support a Year 11 student in an Alternative Provision in South East London. The role focuses on SEMH needs, attention, working memory and communication difficulties.

The ideal candidate is calm, confident and experienced with secondary students who may present challenging behaviour. Experience in Alternative Provision or SEMH settings is highly desirable. This is a full-time position in South East London.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students with SEMH.
• Confident handling of challenging behaviour and dysregulation.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Patient, calm and consistent in approach.
• Ability to build trust and positive relationships with young people.

Responsibilities

• Support the Year 11 student 1:1 in an Alternative Provision setting.
• Assist with attention, working memory and communication difficulties.
• Break learning into manageable steps and provide appropriate prompts.
• Help with emotional regulation to prevent escalation.
• Maintain clear boundaries while supporting independence.
