Job summary

Randstad UK is partnering with a mainstream primary school in Huyton to recruit a dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant for EYFS/KS1. You will provide essential one-to-one support to a student with additional needs, implementing tailored interventions and helping the child engage with the curriculum.

The role requires patience, strong communication and a proactive, safeguarding-focused approach to promote the child’s academic and social development within an inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• 1:1 support experience in schools is preferred.
• Understanding of SEN needs and strategies.
• Strong communication with children, staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with SEN within EYFS/KS1.
• Implement tailored learning strategies and interventions as directed by the class teacher and SENCO.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
• Assist the student with classroom activities and engagement with the curriculum.
• Monitor and track the student’s progress through observations and feedback.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
• Adapt teaching materials to meet the child’s learning needs.

In this role, you will provide essential support to a student within Early Years, helping reach their full potential in an inclusive classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with special educational needs within EYFS.
• Implement tailored learning strategies and interventions as directed by the class teacher and SENCO.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment that supports the student's academic and social development.
• Assist the student with classroom activities, helping them to engage fully with the curriculum.
• Monitor and track the student's progress through detailed observations and feedback.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and external specialists to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to support.
• Adapt materials and teaching aids to meet the unique learning style and needs of the individual child.

Qualifications:

• Relevant qualification in supporting teaching and learning in schools (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
• Proven experience working as a 1:1 support assistant, ideally within an EYFS or KS1 setting.
• A strong understanding of SEN, including experience with specific learning difficulties or complex needs.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with children.
• A patient, proactive, and resilient approach to problem-solving.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
