Job summary

New Directions is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 1 pupil on a one-to-one basis in a Wirral primary school. This part-time role offers meaningful daily impact.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored academic, social and emotional support, promoting positive behaviour and independence. If you are patient, calm under pressure and have a recognised TA qualification or relevant school experience, we would love to hear from you.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teaching Assistant or relevant school-based experience.
• Experience working with primary-aged children (KS1).
• Strong behaviour management and calm under pressure.
• Patient, nurturing and committed to individual pupil needs.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Key Stage 1 pupil.

Are you an experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role supporting a child on a one-to-one basis? We are currently seeking a part-time 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Wirral, providing tailored support to a Key Stage 1 pupil.

This role would suit a compassionate and resilient individual with strong behaviour management skills who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

The Role

• Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Key Stage 1 pupil.
• Supporting the pupil’s academic, social and emotional development.
• Implementing strategies to encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver targeted support.
• Assisting with classroom activities whilst promoting independence.
• Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil.

The Ideal Candidate

• Holds a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant school-based experience.
• Has experience working with primary-aged children, particularly within Key Stage 1.
• Demonstrates strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Is patient, nurturing and committed to supporting individual pupil needs.
• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
