Job summary

TeacherActive is working with a welcoming primary school in Bridgend to recruit a 1 to 1 Support Assistant. The role is part-time mornings from 8:30am to 12pm, supporting a Key Stage 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

You will provide classroom support, encourage engagement with learning activities, and help build positive relationships throughout the school day. A Level 2 TA or childcare qualification is required, with ASD experience and a calm, patient approach.

The school is looking to appoint a 1 to 1 Support Assistant on a part-time temporary basis, working mornings only from 8:30am to 12pm. The successful 1 to 1 Support Assistant will be working closely with a Key Stage 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder / ASD, providing classroom support, encouraging engagement with learning activities, and helping to build positive relationships throughout the school day.

The successful 1 to 1 Support Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder / ASD
• A minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant childcare qualification
• Experience working within a primary school setting
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
• A can‑do attitude and the ability to build positive relationships
