Job summary

Engage Education is seeking a proactive 1:1 Student Mentor in the Oldham area to support a secondary student through the academic year. The role focuses on academic, social and emotional guidance, with a strong emphasis on building rapport and enabling progress across subjects.

The position runs September 2026 to July 2027, Monday to Friday, 08:30–15:15, during term time. A passion for helping students develop and strong organisational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:2 UK-based degree.
• Prior experience tutoring, teaching or volunteering with children or young adults.
• Naturally outgoing and supportive individual.
• Excellent organisation and communication skills.
• Passionate about children's development.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 academic, social and emotional support to students with SEMH needs.
• Build and sustain genuine rapport with the student throughout the academic year.
• Help the student overcome academic barriers in various subjects.

1:1 Student Mentor – Role Information:

• Providing key 1:1 academic, social and emotional support to student with SEMH needs
• Building and sustaining genuine rapport with student throughout the academic year
• Helping student overcome academic barriers in various subjects
• Monday to Friday role – September 2026 to July 2027
• Working hours: 08.30am to 15.15 pm
• Paid £93 per day during term time

1:1 Student Mentor – Applicant Requirements:
