Job summary

AP Education is seeking dedicated SEND Tutors to deliver 1:1 support in Stevenage and surrounding areas. You will work with learners with SEND/SEMH needs, including autism and SpLD, in a flexible schedule with term-time options.

You’ll provide Maths, English or Science tutoring or SEND-specific content, using positive behaviour strategies. DBS enhanced disclosure is required upon onboarding.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Background in education, youth work, or therapeutic settings.
• QTS or HLTA preferred; however, applicants with a minimum of two years’ UK experience are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Deliver face-to-face 1:1 support with students from Early Years to KS4.
• Implement effective behaviour management using positive strategies.
• Provide a therapeutic and adaptable approach to education tailored to individual needs.
• Perform baseline academic and emotional assessments to inform targeted support.
• Prepare daily/weekly progress reports and liaise with SALT, OT, or Social Workers when needed.
• Manage daily attendance reporting via attendance software.
• Assist learners in transitioning to mainstream or specialist education settings.
