Job summary

Vision for Education Ltd in Bootle, Sefton, is seeking a calm, patient 1:1 Support Assistant to provide focused support at a welcoming primary school. The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:45am-3:45pm, with a starting date of 2 November and ongoing throughout the academic year.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SEND staff to help a pupil feel safe, engage in learning and develop independence, with continuous adult supervision and a supportive daily routine.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children or young people.
• A calm, patient and consistent approach.
• Confidence providing intensive 1:1 SEND support.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Suitable references covering recent employment.

Responsibilities

• Providing continuous 1:1 support and supervision to keep the pupil safe.
• Supporting learning through practical, visual and play-based activities.
• Breaking activities into short, manageable steps.
• Using visual resources to support engagement.
• Giving clear, simple instructions and allowing time for processing.
• Helping the pupil manage emotions and move between activities.
• Encouraging positive communication with adults and peers.
• Following the pupil's individual support plan with the SEND team.
