Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEND Support Assistant in North Shields to support a pupil with additional learning and communication needs. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and multidisciplinary team to deliver tailored support aimed at enabling learning, confidence and independence.

Ideal candidates will have experience with SEND, autism/ADHD, and a patient, collaborative approach.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND in school, care, nursery or community settings.
• Familiarity with supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH or related needs.
• Patient, caring and resilient, able to adapt to individual needs.
• Commitment to helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach potential.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support throughout the school day.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs of the pupil.
• Support SEND pupils including ASC/ADHD and communication needs.
• Encourage independence with appropriate guidance and reassurance.
• Build positive relationships to promote wellbeing and engagement in learning.
• Collaborate with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider team on personalised support strategies.
• Use a nurturing approach to support emotional regulation and behavior.
• Monitor progress and feed back to staff on achievements and areas to improve.
