Job summary

Locking Primary School in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to provide tailored 1:1 support for pupils with SEND. You will work in small groups to enhance learning and deliver personalised strategies, including TEACCH, to boost engagement and independence.

The role requires experience in educational settings, a caring approach, and strong communication. Term-time, fixed-term until 31 August 2027, with extension potential subject to funding.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in school, nursery, or educational settings.
• Experience supporting children with SEND.
• Patient, compassionate and committed to inclusive education.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs.
• Work with small intervention groups to enhance learning and development.
• Support children with autism and SEND requirements.
• Implement and deliver the TEACCH approach and other personalised learning strategies.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence, emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning.
• Collaborate with teachers, support staff, families and external professionals to ensure positive outcomes.
