Job summary

Locking Primary School in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a caring Learning Support Assistant to join our inclusive team. The role provides 1:1 SEND support and small intervention groups for pupils with additional needs, including autism and social communication difficulties.

You will implement TEACCH and personalised learning strategies, helping pupils develop confidence, independence, and engagement. Fixed-term until 31 August 2027 (32.5 hours/week, term time).

Qualifications

• Has experience supporting children with SEND.
• Experience working in schools or educational settings.
• Patient, compassionate, and committed to inclusive education.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs.
• Work with small intervention groups to enhance learning and development.
• Support children with autism and SEND requirements.
• Implement TEACCH and other personalised learning strategies.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and external professionals to ensure positive outcomes.
