Job summary

Locking Primary School in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a SEND Learning Support Assistant to provide tailored 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs. The role involves small group work, autism support, and implementing TEACCH alongside personalised learning strategies.

You will help pupils develop confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing, collaborating with staff, families and external professionals to ensure positive outcomes for children in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a school, nursery, or educational setting.
• Experience supporting children with SEND.
• Patience, compassion and commitment to inclusive education.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs.
• Work with small intervention groups to enhance learning and development.
• Support children with autism, social communication difficulties, and SEND requirements.
• Implement TEACCH and other personalised learning strategies.
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and engagement in learning.
