Job summary

Arthur Bugler Primary School is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEND Learning Support Assistant to support children with special educational needs, including autism. The role requires resilience, de-escalation skills and a practical, hands-on approach within our supportive team.

You will work 30 hours 25 minutes per week during 38 weeks of the year (term time plus inset days), with a start date of January 2027 and a fixed term until 31 August 2027.

Qualifications

• NVQ qualifications or equivalent.
• Good standard of English and Mathematics.
• Experience or interest in supporting pupils with SEND.
• Experience of working with children with challenging behaviour.
• Knowledge of EYFS and KS1 curriculum.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with parents and staff.
• Experience in personal care.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEND.
• Assist in delivering learning activities and implementing strategies.
• Maintain de-escalation and behaviour support.
• Liaise with teachers, parents and staff.
