Job summary

St Martin’s CE VA Primary School in York is seeking a General Teaching Assistant to support a child with additional needs in Class 2 (Year 2). The role is fixed term initially until 31/08/2031 and part-time (30 hours per week, 8:45am–3:15pm) during term time.

The successful candidate should be kind, caring, observant, and able to work in a team, with strong communication to build relationships with pupils and staff. DBS checks apply.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and supporting a pupil with social and emotional needs.
• Ability to supervise children and build good relationships with pupils and staff.
• Good communication skills and willingness to develop knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Support a child with an Education Health Care Plan in Class 2.
• Ensure safety, welfare and good conduct during midday breaks.
• Supervise pupils in dining hall, playground, or classroom as needed.
