Job summary

St Bartholomew’s Primary Academy in Royal Wootton Bassett is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support children with additional needs within the classroom and through targeted interventions. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, SEND staff and families to ensure inclusive learning, monitor progress and adapt resources to each pupil's needs.

This fixed-term role runs until 31 August 2027, with potential continuation subject to funding.

• Caring, patient and able to build positive relationships with children.
• High expectations and belief that every child can succeed.
• Flexible and able to adapt approach to the differing needs of individual pupils.
• Encourage children to develop confidence and independence.
• Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with colleagues.
• Experience of supporting children with SEND or additional needs; training/learning encouraged.
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Support a range of children with additional needs across the school.
• Work with class teachers to help pupils access learning.
• Deliver targeted interventions and small-group or individual support.
• Support children's communication, social and emotional development and independence.
• Adapt resources and approaches to meet individual children's needs.
• Help to monitor children's progress and contribute to the review of support strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEND staff and other colleagues.
