Job summary

St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to work 15 hours per week during term time. The role is a fixed term contract starting 1st September 2026, with pro rata salary £7,757 - £8,133 per year. The post focuses on 1:1 support for a pupil with complex needs in KS1.

The successful candidate will deliver bespoke activities, support Phonics and work closely with SENCO and class teachers to monitor progress and safeguarding.”

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with complex needs in a primary setting.
• Ability to deliver bespoke learning activities under guidance of SENCO and class teacher.
• Ability to contribute to Phonics instruction using multisensory strategies.
• Strong collaboration with parents, carers and external agencies to support safeguarding and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver bespoke learning activities under the guidance of the SENCO and class teacher, ensuring EHCP targets are met.
• Contribute to teaching Phonics with adaptive or multisensory strategies.
• Monitor, record and report pupil progress, supporting social, emotional, and academic development.
• Support the Catholic ethos of the academy and promote inclusive learning.
• Meet pastoral needs and collaborate with parents, carers and external agencies to promote safeguarding.
• Develop strong relationships with pupils, staff and MAT partners.
