Job summary

TLTP Group in Romford is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1) to support a Year 2 pupil with ASD from September 2026. This long-term role focuses on enabling access to learning through personalised support and tailored communication strategies.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to help the pupil access the curriculum, develop communication skills, and build confidence in a nurturing classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with ASD and/or additional needs is desirable.
• Understanding of supporting children with limited verbal communication.
• Kind, patient, and compassionate, with a nurturing approach.
• Able to build positive relationships and create a safe, supportive learning environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Passionate about helping children achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with ASD.
• Support the pupil's communication, learning, and social development.
• Use a calm, patient, and consistent approach throughout the school day.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs.
• Encourage independence while offering reassurance and guidance.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to support the pupil's progress.
