Job summary

Long Term Futures in Redditch is seeking a Year 2 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in Year 2 within a Year 1 class from September 2026. This full-time, long-term role focuses on 1:1 assistance, communication, and access to learning.

You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals in a nurturing school environment that values patience and consistent routines to help the pupil reach their learning goals.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN in primary schools.
• Experience with Autism (ASD), including non-verbal pupils.
• Confident providing dedicated 1:1 support.
• Familiar with communication strategies (Makaton/PECS/visual timetables).

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support tailored to the pupil's needs.
• Adapt activities to access Year 1 curriculum.
• Support communication using visual strategies.
• Encourage engagement, independence and positive interactions.
• Implement structured routines to reduce anxiety.
• Collaborate with class teacher, SENCO and external professionals.
• Promote emotional regulation and inclusive learning.
