Job summary

Aspire People in Leicester is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs in a school setting. You will provide tailored assistance to help the learner access lessons, build independence, and engage with classroom life.

Ideal candidates have prior experience with children, a caring, patient approach, and strong teamwork. Roles are available both part-time and full-time, with school hours 08:30–15:30.

Qualifications

• Previous professional experience working with children in school, nursery, childcare setting or similar environment.
• Caring, patient and empathetic approach to learners.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Confidence in adapting to different situations and individual needs.
• Reliable, proactive and professional attitude.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
• Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly in 1:1 capacity is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support throughout the school day.
• Help the pupil access lessons, complete activities, and achieve targets.
• Build trusting relationships to boost confidence, engagement and wellbeing.
• Support communication, social interaction and positive behaviour.
• Adapt approach to individual needs and learning styles.
• Help pupil develop independence and essential life skills.
• Work with class teacher, SENCO and professionals.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
