Job summary

Aspire People are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs across Derby. The role focuses on promoting inclusion, supporting academic and social development, and working alongside teachers and SENCOs.

Applications require experience with SEN, a patient, caring approach, and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one via Aspire People). Daily pay ranges £95–£110 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children with SEN (school-based experience preferred).
• A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to adapt to different school settings and pupil needs.
• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one through Aspire People).

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN (including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties).
• Support students with their academic, social, and emotional development.
• Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to implement IEPs.
• Promote positive behaviour and create an inclusive, safe learning environment.
• Assist with classroom activities and adapt learning materials as needed.
