Job summary

Aspire People in Leicester is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs in a school setting. You will provide tailored assistance to help the learner access lessons, build independence, and engage with classroom life.

Ideal candidates have prior experience with children, a caring, patient approach, and strong teamwork. Roles are available both part-time and full-time, with school hours 08:30–15:30.

Qualifications

• Previous professional experience working with children in school, nursery, childcare setting or similar environment.
• Caring, patient and empathetic approach to learners.
• Ability to build positive relationships with children while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Confidence in adapting to different situations and individual needs.
• Reliable, proactive and professional attitude.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
• Experience supporting children with SEN, particularly in 1:1 capacity is desirable.

We are looking for individuals with previous professional experience working with children who are passionate about providing personalised support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

About the Role

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with an individual pupil, providing tailored support to help them overcome barriers to learning, develop independence, and engage positively with school life.

Depending on the pupil's needs, you may be supporting children with autism (ASC), ADHD, communication difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs, or other additional learning needs.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing dedicated one-to-one support throughout the school day.
• Helping the pupil access lessons, complete learning activities, and achieve individual targets.
• Building a trusting relationship to encourage confidence, engagement, and emotional wellbeing.

• Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other relevant professionals.

What We're Looking For

• Previous professional experience working with children in a school, nursery, childcare setting, or another relevant professional environment.
