Job summary

Smile Education Recruitment is helping a welcoming secondary school in West Bromwich fill a SEN Teaching Assistant role providing 1:1 support for students with additional needs. You will support learners to access lessons, build confidence and develop key academic and social skills, working closely with teachers and the school support team in a supportive

Qualifications

• Passionate about supporting children and young people.
• Patient, caring and empathetic.
• Confident working on a 1:1 basis.
• Able to build strong relationships with students.
• Reliable, proactive and committed.
• Comfortable working as part of a wider school team.
• Interested in developing their experience within SEN and education.
• Previous SEN or Teaching Assistant experience is desirable but not essential.
• Graduates or candidates with transferable experience are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to students with additional needs.
• Support students to access and engage with their learning.
• Assist with intervention work to develop academic and social skills.
• Work closely with teachers and the wider support team to meet individual student needs.
• Help students develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.
• Adapt your approach according to individual needs and learning styles.
• Support students both inside and outside the classroom where required.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
• Contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
