Job summary

Uniform Education is recruiting an experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a mainstream primary school in Hillingdon/Uxbridge. The role focuses on providing dedicated support to a pupil with additional needs within a KS1/KS2 class.

You will implement EHCP-based strategies, assist with social interaction and behaviour, and provide flexible classroom support when the pupil is absent, working closely with teachers, the SENCo, and external professionals.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a UK school setting.
• Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching & Learning, Early Years, or equivalent (CACHE, NVQ, or Diploma).
• Confidence working on a 1:1 basis and adapting to different classroom environments.
• Experience using communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton, AAC, or similar approaches.
• Patient, calm, nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, flexible, and proactive attitude.
• Genuine commitment to inclusive education and helping children reach their potential.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Uniform Education.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN within a mainstream classroom.
• Support learning in line with the pupil’s EHCP or individual support plan.
• Implement strategies to support communication, engagement, behaviour, and emotional regulation.
• Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs.
• Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
• Provide general classroom support across KS1 and KS2 when the pupil is absent.
• Work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and external professionals.
• Support the pupil’s social interaction and development.
• Help maintain a calm, safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
