Job summary

Horizon Teachers is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Kingston upon Thames. You will provide targeted 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs, collaborating with teachers and the SEN team to tailor approaches.

The ideal candidate has strong SEN experience, a patient and proactive mindset, and a passion for helping children progress academically, socially, and emotionally.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN.
• Ability to provide 1:1 or small-group support.
• Understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language and learning needs.
• Adapt activities and communication to individual needs.
• Patient, nurturing and emotionally intelligent approach.
• Ability to handle challenging or dysregulated behaviour.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
• Proactive collaboration with teachers and SEN team.
• Passion for helping children progress and develop independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.
• Collaborate with class teacher, SENCO, and support staff to ensure consistent support.
• Build trust quickly, stay calm and patient to understand individual learning needs.
• Contribute to creating an inclusive classroom environment for all pupils.
