Job summary

Axcis Education is seeking a Part-Time SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with ASD in a welcoming mainstream primary in Sutton, Surrey. Hours are mornings 8:30am–12:00pm with an immediate start on a long-term placement.

You will help the pupil access the curriculum, foster communication and social skills, and build a supportive relationship in a calm, patient and proactive manner. DBS checks are required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as SEN TA or Learning Support Assistant in a school.
• Experience supporting children with ASD.
• Calm, patient and consistent approach.
• Able to build positive pupil relationships and work independently on a 1:1 basis.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support to a Year 3 pupil with ASD.
• Support pupil with classroom activities and access to curriculum.
• Encourage communication, social interaction and engagement with learning.
• Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the pupil.
• Adapt activities to meet individual needs and routines.
• Maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Work with class teacher and school team to support learning.
