Job summary

Remedy Tutors are seeking experienced tutors to provide 1:1 and small-group tuition for young people needing additional educational and pastoral support. Tutoring may occur at home, in community venues, libraries or online, with ongoing opportunities across Derby.

You will deliver engaging, structured sessions, build trusting relationships with learners, and tailor teaching to meet individual needs, including SEND/SEMH considerations and safeguarding requirements.

Qualifications

Experience delivering 1:1 tuition or teaching.
Strong knowledge of English and/or Maths.
Experience working with SEND / SEMH learners.
A calm, patient and adaptable approach.
The ability to build trust and rapport with young people.
Good understanding of scaffolding, differentiation and personalised learning.
Strong communication and safeguarding awareness.

Responsibilities

Provide engaging, structured tuition while building a positive relationship with the learner.
Support learners who are out of school or struggling to access mainstream education.
Address gaps in learning with a personalised approach.
Assist learners who experience anxiety, low confidence or transitions, with routines and clear steps.
