Job summary

Remedy Tutors are seeking experienced tutors to provide 1:1 and small-group tuition for young people needing additional educational and pastoral support. Tutoring may occur at home, in community venues, libraries or online, with ongoing opportunities across Derby.

You will deliver engaging, structured sessions, build trusting relationships with learners, and tailor teaching to meet individual needs, including SEND/SEMH considerations and safeguarding requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering 1:1 tuition or teaching.
• Strong knowledge of English and/or Maths.
• Experience working with SEND / SEMH learners.
• A calm, patient and adaptable approach.
• The ability to build trust and rapport with young people.
• Good understanding of scaffolding, differentiation and personalised learning.
• Strong communication and safeguarding awareness.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging, structured tuition while building a positive relationship with the learner.
• Support learners who are out of school or struggling to access mainstream education.
• Address gaps in learning with a personalised approach.
• Assist learners who experience anxiety, low confidence or transitions, with routines and clear steps.

SEND / SEMH Tutor - 1:1 Tuition

Remedy Tutors are looking for experienced and dedicated Tutors / Teachers to support young people who require additional educational and pastoral support.

We work with schools, local authorities and families to provide 1:1 and small-group tuition across a range of settings, including home, community venues, libraries and online.

The role

We are looking for tutors who can provide engaging, structured tuition while building a positive relationship with the learner.

Experience supporting young people with SEND, SEMH, Autism and/or ADHD would be highly beneficial.

You may be supporting learners who:

• Are currently out of school or struggling to access mainstream education
• Have gaps in their learning and need a personalised approach
• Experience anxiety, low confidence or difficulties with transitions
• Benefit from clear routines, structure and tasks broken into manageable steps
• Need additional encouragement and reassurance to engage with learning
• Respond well to patient, consistent and relationship-based support

What we're looking for

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience delivering 1:1 tuition or teaching
