Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking an Outreach Tutor to support young people in Wokingham and surrounding areas who access EOTAS and Alternative Provision. This 1:1 role helps learners re-engage with education through a flexible, personalised approach.

You will work with learners who may have SEND/SEMH needs, including autism, ADHD and anxiety, building confidence and positive learning routines during term time.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people with SEND/SEMH is essential.
• Experience in outreach, Alternative Provision, tuition, intervention, mentoring or 1:1 learning support is desirable.
• Patient, calm and empathetic approach to supporting learners.
• Confident with learners who may be anxious or display challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to adapt approach to diverse learners.
• QTS/QTLS or relevant teaching/mentoring/youth work experience desirable.
• An Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Ability to travel to learners across Wokingham and surrounding areas.
• Availability during normal school hours.

Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 outreach support to learners accessing EOTAS and Alternative Provision.
• Helping learners re-engage with education in a calm, safe environment.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with individual learners.
• Supporting learners with SEND/SEMH needs including autism, ADHD, anxiety and behavioural challenges.
• Planning and delivering personalised learning activities based on each learner’s needs.
• Helping learners develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.
• Providing academic support across subjects (English, Maths, Science) where appropriate.
• Adapting approaches to individual learner needs and engagement.
• Encouraging learners to develop routines and work towards educational goals.
• Monitoring engagement and progress and providing regular feedback; collaborating with Quantum Scholars and professionals involved in the learner’s education.
