Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Function al Skills Maths Tutor to deliver individualised math tuition in Runcorn. The role runs 5–15 hours per week with a September 2026 start date, supporting a learner to improve mathematical understanding and confidence through structured, engaging sessions.

You will plan around the learner's level, target weaknesses, and track progress. A DBS check and UK work rights are required; QTS/PGCE or relevant tutoring experience are desirable for this ongoing

Qualifications

Experience teaching or tutoring Maths.
Functional Skills experience is highly desirable.
Strong subject knowledge.
Experience working with children or young people.
Patient and adaptable teaching style.
QTS, PGCE or relevant tutoring experience desirable.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to process a new application.
Right to Work in the UK.
Two professional references.

Responsibilities

Deliver 1:1 Functional Skills Maths tuition.
Plan sessions around the learner’s current level.
Identify areas of weakness and develop targeted activities.
Support numeracy and problem-solving skills.
Adapt lessons according to progress.
Encourage learners to become more confident and independent.
Provide feedback on development.
