Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting for a Functional Skills Maths Tutor to provide personalised 1:1 tuition in Wigan. You will support learners with their numeracy and Maths education, helping them build essential skills and work towards Functional Skills qualifications.

The role offers 5-15 hours per week with an ongoing start from September 2026. Applicants should have experience delivering Functional Skills Maths, strong numeracy knowledge, and a patient, flexible teaching approach.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths.
• Strong maths and numeracy knowledge.
• Previous teaching or tutoring experience.
• Experience supporting learners with gaps in education.
• QTS, PGCE or equivalent desirable.
• Patient and flexible teaching style.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 Functional Skills Maths tutoring to learners in Wigan.
• Adapt sessions to learners’ starting point and goals.
• Support learners in achieving Functional Skills qualifications.
