Job summary

Humly North East in Ashington is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for an EYFS pupil with SEMH needs. The role runs full-time for the academic year 2026/27, starting September 2026.

You will work closely with the SENCo and class teacher to deliver tailored strategies, ensuring a calm, nurturing environment that supports emotional regulation and access to learning through play.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEND/SEMH preferred.
• Calm, patient, nurturing demeanor.
• Willingness to engage in SEMH strategies and early years activities.
• Commitment to the full academic year and school day hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to an EYFS pupil with SEMH needs.
• Implement tailored emotional support strategies to help the pupil regulate feelings.
• Collaborate with class teacher and SENCo to deliver intervention plans.
• Create an inclusive, safe learning environment using play and structured activities.
• Build a trusting relationship with the pupil, family, and external support teams.
