Job summary

Milk Education are currently supporting a welcoming primary school in Bury to recruit a caring 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a pupil with autism. The role involves providing personalised one-to-one support, helping the pupil access lessons and develop communication and emotional regulation skills throughout the school day.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO, supporting transitions and strategies, in a nurturing, patient environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with autism or additional needs.
• Experience working in a primary school, nursery, SEN setting, care environment or similar roles.
• Able to provide personalised one-to-one support and build trust with a child.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support to a primary-aged pupil with autism.
• Help the child access lessons, activities and the wider curriculum.
• Adapt tasks and activities to the pupil’s individual learning needs.
• Encourage confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning.
• Observe and monitor the pupil’s progress and share updates with the teaching team.
• Support transitions between lessons and school activities.
• Maintain a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
